Friday 3rd July - 'Field win race to sign midfielder

Mangotsfield United have beaten off competition from a number of clubs to sign Larkhall Athletic midfielder Lee Collier. Despite press reports linking the twenty nine year old to clubs at a higher level Collier put pen to paper last night to become Phil Bater's sixth new signing of the summer.

Collier returns to Cossham Street for a second spell after a brief period with the club during the championship winning season of 2004/05. An experienced player Collier began his career at Torquay United before making the switch as a youth team player to Yeovil Town. Spells at Bath City, Larkhall Athletic, Chippenham Town, Merthyr Tydfil and Paulton Rovers followed before signing for Newport County in the summer of 2006. After a season at Newport he rejoined Larkhall Athletic in 2007.

Thursday 2nd July - Chairmen speak on newly formed Supporters Club

Speaking following his appointment as Mangotsfield United Supporters Club Chairman, Andy Milne said: “The Supporters Club will be independently constituted, but our overall aim will be to assist in the continued success and prosperity of the football club and our members. We look forward to working closely with the football clubs board of directors, whilst retaining our independence. It is early days, but we are very keen and wish to make a positive contribution to the future development of the football club.”

Football club Chairman, Mike Richardson commented: “On behalf of the football club board of directors we are delighted that an Official Mangotsfield United Supporters Club has been formed. We look forward to working with the Supporters Club in the future and have already agreed to them having an elected representative attend future board meetings. Like any amateur football club we rely heavily on volunteers to undertake a variety of tasks connected with the club. We see the formation of a Supporters Club as being a key step in our ambitious plans for the future.”

Wednesday 1st July - FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Youth Cup draws

In the preliminary round of next seasons FA Cup Mangotsfield United have been handed a home draw against Bracknell Town. The winners of this tie will host either Hamble ASSC, Bitton or Newport IOW. The FA Trophy preliminary round sees Mangotsfield United travel to Slough Town, with the winners travelling to Uxbridge.

Mangotsfield United's youth team face a short trip to local rivals Yate Town in the preliminary round of The FA Youth Cup. Should the youth team progress an away trip to either Elmore or Bridgwater Town awaits. The second qualifying round draw has also been made and would once again see Mangotsfield United on the road against either Forest Green Rovers, Portishead Town or Clevedon Town.
