Wednesday 27th August - Work commitments lead to Bryant departure

Following on from the departure of striker Simon Dew, midfielder Simon Bryant has now also left Mangotsfield United. Bryant, like Dew, a summer arrival from Gloucester County League Hanham Athletic has left the club citing work commitments as the reason behind his exit from Cossham Street.

Bryant, twenty five, featured in a number of pre season friendlies but due to unavailablity failed to make a competitive start for the club.

Mangotsfield United manager Paul Milsom told the clubs official website that he's hopeful of adding another signing to that of left midfielder Danny Wring who signed for the club on Tuesday.

Tuesday 26th August - One in, one out as Milsom shuffles pack.

Mangotsfield United manager Paul Milsom has added to his midfield options with the permanent signing of left midfielder Danny Wring (pictured left) from Newport County. The twenty one year old started his career as a trainee with Bristol City before signing professional forms in April 2006. After making one first team appearance he was released at the end of the 2006/07 season and signed for Torquay United where he remained until January 2008.

Wring finished last season at Team Bath where he became a regular in their promotion winning side. After trial spells with Blue Square South clubs Worcester City, Weston Super Mare and Newport County Wring signed forms with 'The Exiles' after featuring in a number of pre season friendlies for the welsh club.

Meanwhile striker Simon Dew, a summer signing from Hanham Athletic has left the club after just four matches. It is understood that Dew and manager Paul Milsom came to a mutual agreement after the bank holiday defeat against Yate Town.

Monday 25th August - British Gas Business Football League Premier Division - Mangotsfield United 1 Yate Town 2

Mangotsfield United suffered their third defeat of the season as local rivals Yate Town earned the bragging rights. The visitors opened the scoring on thirty eight minutes through Dean Griffths' deflected strike, however the lead lasted just six minutes as substitute Mitchell Page scored on debut with a well taken header. Yate were gifted a second goal ten minutes into the second half when Paul Metheringham made the most of a glaring goalkeeping error to guide the ball into the unguarded net. Despite having to replace the injured Tony Court at half time, stand in goalkeeper, central defender Lee Jeffries was rarely troubled.

Despite having the better of the early exchanges a Mangotsfield side which enjoyed good periods of possession failed to create a worthwhile opening until the twenty first minute when former Yate Town player Tom Collett was found wide on the left where after cutting inside he skipped past Scott Brice only for his cross to evade Ellis Wilmot at the back post.

The visitors gradually worked their way into the match and took the lead with their first meaningful strike at goal on thirty eight minutes courtesy of a huge slice of luck. After being awarded a free kick on the Mangotsfield left the ball was delivered to the left edge of the area and with the ball breaking to Dean Griffiths his strike from sixteen yards took a deflection to balloon over Josh Clapham.....................(click here for full match report).
